The Tasar class had not returned to Lake Garda for 46 years: in 1979 a European Championship was held, won by the Rondeitap-Breitenberg crew with this boat designed in 1975 by the Australian naval architect Frank Bethwaite. It is a double, light and fast, designed for mixed or adult crews of average weight, with no trapeze or spinnaker. The Tasar originated in Australia but quickly spread around the world, with active fleets in Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, and France, in addition to Australia, of course.
Bethwaite designed it with a focus on aerodynamics and sail efficiency, introducing a flexible two-piece mast and a battened mainsail with an efficient profile, features that ensure excellent performance even in light winds.

Era da 46 anni che sul lago di Garda non tornava la classe Tasar: nel 1979 si disputò un Campionato Europeo vinto dall'equipaggio Rondeitap-Breitenberg con questa barca progettata nel 1975 dall’architetto navale australiano Frank Bethwaite. Si tratta di un doppio, leggero e veloce, pensato per equipaggi misti o adulti di peso medio, senza trapezio né spinnaker. Il Tasar è nato in Australia, ma si è diffuso rapidamente in tutto il mondo, con flotte attive in Canada, Regno Unito, Stati Uniti, Giappone e Francia, oltre ovviamente all'Australia.
Bethwaite lo progettò con un’attenzione particolare all’aerodinamica e all’efficienza delle vele, introducendo un albero flessibile in due pezzi e una randa steccata con un profilo efficiente, caratteristiche che garantiscono ottime prestazioni anche con vento leggero.
